David Cross


David Cross is an Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor and writer, born on April 4, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia. He dropped out from Emerson College in Massachusetts to pursue a career as a stand-up comic, performing with several comedy troupes in Boston. David Cross started working in television by writing for The Ben Stiller Show and making appearances in some of its sketches, for which he won an Emmy Award. Other TV series he’s had roles in are The Drew Carey Show, Just Shoot Me, The Colbert Report, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He’s also worked on the movies Night of the Living Dead, The Cable Guy, Men in Black 2, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

 

Dr. Tobias Fünke is played by David Cross in the comedy series Arrested Development. An aspiring actor yet also a professional psychiatrist, he’s the husband of Lindsay and the father of Maeby. Tobias completed a psycholinguistics fellowship at MIT and became the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Chief of Psychiatry, but lost his license after giving CPR to a man that wasn’t actually having a heart attack. He decides to become a thespian after being impressed by a boat filled with gay protestors, most of whom were actors, yet never succeeds in this endeavor.
