Cycle 7 of America's Next Top Model
gave us memorable contestants and an unexpected winner. Off camera, CariDee English
leaned on the unfocused, outspoken side. On camera, she was focused, creative, and cooperative. The contestants who made it far in the game were sent to Barcelona on their international trip. They competed for representation with Elite Model Management, a cover and story with Seventeen magazine, and of course the Cover Girl contract.
On this season, viewers were introduced to Jaslene Gonzalez
who ended up being cut in the first episode in the semi-final round, only to return in cycle 8 and win the whole thing. From twins who seemed like unlikely models to Melrose the diva, here's a look back at cycle 7 of America's Next Top Model
Memorable models from cycle 7 included twins Michelle
and Amanda Babin
, who were 18 years old. Both seemed awkward and unsure of themselves yet, turned out amazing pictures week after week. Late in the season, Michelle's lack of confidence became apparent and Tyra sent her packing. Her sister joined her back home in Anaheim, CA the following week. No one could forget Melrose
, whose diva attitude rubbed lots of people the wrong way. She took beautiful pictures but often became upset when she felt she wasn't perceived as the best. She made it to the final two and was beat out by CariDee.
In Barcelona, CariDee almost ruined her chances in the competition when she made a sarcastic and inappropriate remark to judge Nigel Barker, who was their cameraman that day. She ended up reading a letter of apology to the judges, which was accepted by Tyra. Another mistake was made in the finale when she stepped on Melrose's dress in the final runway, ripping it. However, her strong performances throughout the season pushed her towards victory.
Since winning cycle 7 of America's Next Top Model
, CariDee guest starred on One Tree Hill (part of a prize she won). She is the spokesperson for the National Psoriasis Foundation and has modeled for JC Penney. A new season of Top Model begins this Wednesday and we'll be looking back at a different cycle each day. Post your favorite thoughts and check back tomorrow as we take a look at cycle 8.
