We're used to hearing actors inspiring people, but models have been doing so as well. We've seen Tyra Banks do her share, giving a chance to the contestants of America's Next Top Model. Just the same, those who have gone under her tutelage on the series have been an inspiration to aspiring models as well.
According to Chicago Now, Cycle 11 winner McKey Sullivan took time out of her schedule to visit the 18-year-old Kahla Harper at Chicago's Rush University Medical Center. The teen is a big fan of America's Next Top Model, so this surprise was certainly a joy for her.
A native of Lake Forest, McKey had flown in from Paris to her hometown to pay the girl a visit. Kahla Harper, despite her enthusiasm over the event, is actually suffering from a bone tumor known as osteosarcoma. It can rapidly develop and spread throughout the body, causing the model hopeful to undergo a number of surgeries.
Harper has already gone through chemotherapy and even had a full knee replacement. Still, she's keeping her head up with the support of her family and friends. And of course,
America's Next Top Model winner McKey Sullivan.
The two of them spent the whole day together, with McKey discussing how much hard work it took to be a model. Kahla Harper wasn't daunted though, and even got excited at the prospect. They even staged a little runway show in the hospital with her doctor joining in.
But if things don't work out for Kahla as a catwalk star, she's hoping to take up broadcast journalism someday. One really needs something to fall back on in terms of career, which is also why McKey Sullivan's taking up pre-med and pre-law.
Anyway, you can watch a clip of the report below. Maybe it's the doc who can make it onto
America's Next Top Model, if Tyra ever needs another gimmick for the show.
