As you well know if you're a regular to BuddyTV's
America's Next Top Model page, the most recent winner of
America's Next Top Model –
Saleisha Stowers – found out that a lot of controversy came with the title. Her previous work as an actress in a Wendy's commercial, modeling gigs (including one on the Tyra Banks talk show) and a previous relationship with Tyra at her T-Zone camp seemed to many to be in direct violation of the rules of the game.
We've heard from the two runners-up,
Jenah Doucette and
Chantal Jones. Both were diplomatic in their comments, and kept on message about Saleisha deserving to win.
But what does another
America's Next Top Model competitor think?
Adrianne Curry is already on Tyra's bad side, so there was no additional damage that could be done, it would seem, in her posing the question “Is
Top Model a Scam?”
“That's what everyone has been asking me lately because of the last season,” Adrianne recently wrote on her blog.
“I didn't watch it, but I came across the finale and watched it the other week…According to my contract with Top Model, all of [Saleisha's experience and relationship with Tyra] would keep you from even coming on the show, let alone win it.”
So what does she think? “I agree with the majority in saying that this is not fair. When I did watch the show, I didn't think that they chose the girl who could actually model...but then I remembered that they are 9 seasons into this show and have yet to be successful in making a real "Top Model". I would have picked the other girl based only on that I think she would work more. It's Tyra's show, and she can obviously do whatever she wants.”
However, she continues, “I think that if all these rumors of the winner being tied in the industry and having a prior relationship with Tyra is true, that the title should be given to the runner up. I know Tyra is an honest person. I have been assured by many that Tyra isn't unfair. Seeing how she isn't, I know she will do the right thing in this situation.”
It's a gracious tone for Adrianne, but the sassy America's Next Top Model winner can't resist a little dig at Tyra when she added one last note. “Heck, maybe after [Tyra] is done righting this wrong, she could hint at the agency she placed me in to PAY me for the work I did and won through her show? Been trying to get that check since 2003.”
