Ben Stein, well-known political satirist and co-host of VH1's
America's Most Smartest Model, will be at this year's ORT America meeting dinner to serve as the event's keynote speaker. The annual event will take place this Sunday, March 9, at the Boca Raton Marriott in Florida.
“Ben Stein is most likely familiar to everyone as a comedian in movies and on TV, entertaining audiences worldwide,” Doreen N. Hermelin said, president of ORT America, said. “Having heard Ben Stein in the past, I am delighted that he will keynote our annual meeting. I know he will inspire our audience with his witty, hilarious and unique style. In addition to weighing in on the political year, his knowledge on so many subjects, especially education, will be of great interest to our participants.”
Since starting his career in politics as a speechwriter and lawyer for former U.S. President Richard Nixon, Stein has become a prominent figure in the country's political arena. Currently, he is a columnist for
The New York Times, a regular commentator for
FOX News and a frequent contributor to CNBC.
Stein has also made quite a splash in the entertainment industry. He is known to many as the monotonous economic teacher in 1986 movie
Ferris Bueller's Day Off, starring Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated actor Matthew Broderick. He has appeared in numerous television series and even hosted his own game show on Comedy Central from 1997 to 2003. Now, he is known as the co-host of
America's Most Smartest Model, which has been renewed for a second season.
On
America's Most Smartest Model, Stein and co-host Mary Alice Stephenson subjects contestants to challenges that not only test their modeling skills, but intelligence as well. The show debuted on VH1 last October, with 16 aspiring models vying for the $100,000 cash prize, a feature in a new VO5 ad, and the title “America's Most Smartest Model.” At the end of the show's first season, 21-year-old
VJ Logan, hailing from Grass Valley, California, was proclaimed the winner.
