Comedian and former Deal or No Deal
host Howie Mandel has started making the rounds of talk shows in preparation for the premiere of the fifth season of America's Got Talent
on June 1.Blast from the Past: 'America's Got Talent' To Be Changed to 'America's Gone Tone Deaf'
Mandel's replacement of David Hasselhoff in the panel of judges was announced
in January amid reports that The Hoff is set to get his own show. Others, however, pointed to the string of controversies the former Baywatch star found himself in.
America's Got Talent is available on Amazon Prime.
That doesn't mean that Hasselhoff will be out of work for long, as he is set to reprise his role Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. on the daytime soap The Young and the Restless
. He'll return to shoot his brief Y&R
stint in May for an arc that is scheduled to air in mid-June.
"In 1976, Bill Bell, creator of America's No. 1 soap opera, took a chance on a young and very green actor," says Hasselhoff in a statement to EW
"Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared molded my craft, my attitude and my work ethic. Being asked to come back ... gives me a chance to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt emotion for Bill, his family and my time on Young and the Restless."
"I just hope I can remember all those lines."
And to complete the crazy America's Got Talent
judges news roundup, Sharon Osbourne has confirmed a tabloid report alleging that she plans to turn her breast implants to paperweights for hubby Ozzy Osbourne.
"It's true," she says on NBC's Today
on Monday. "They're better on his desk than on my chest. They're awful!"
