America's Best Dance Crew

Exclusive Interview with Distorted X from 'America's Best Dance Crew'

On the first episode of the second season of America's Best Dance Crew, Distorted X became the first crew eliminated. The Houston septet features five women and two guys, though during the live casting special, judge Shane Sparks made the mistake of calling them an all-female crew. It was an honest mistake, as the ladies of Distorted X are a force to be reckoned with. Sure they're beautiful and sexy, but as JC Chasez said on more than one occasion, they bring it just as hard as anyone when they perform.

BuddyTV spoke to Lindsay and Sayree, two members of Distorted X, following their elimination. The two spoke about how Distorted X got its start just a few short months ago, the perceptions of women in dance crews, their close friendships with the other crews and the future of Distorted X. Continue reading for the highlights and a chance to listen to the full audio of the interview.

-The seven members of Distorted X have known each other for about six years as dancers at the same studio. When a dance carnival came to Houston in February of this year, they decided to team up for the first time. They received rave reviews and, when they learned America's Best Dance Crew was coming to Houston for auditions, they decided to start working together.

-Both Lindsay and Sayree are appreciative of JC Chasez's comments regarding how strong the women of Distorted X were and how they stood out. They agreed that it's harder for women since they have to bring it twice as hard to be taken seriously in competitive dance.

-The two also complimented their male crewmates, Courtney and Jerome, on being able to blend smoothly with the five strong women. They hinted that, had Distorted X been around longer, viewers would've seen more of the diversity of the two guys and their abilities to dance with the women in feminine and masculine routines.

-Distorted X bonded instantly with Fanny Pak upon arriving in Los Angeles, which made the elimination that much harder. As they described, they would've been both happy and sad no matter the result, as they were really rooting for Fanny Pak.

-Lindsay and Sayree promised to bring it hard in the America's Best Dance Crew finale to show what America missed out on, and while Distorted X has a few local Houston gigs lined up in the near future, whether they'll continue to dance as a crew beyond that is unclear, though no matter what, all the members will keep on dancing.
