Adam Lambert as The Pop Star
Regardless of the outcome this season, I think this is where Lambert will go, whether he likes it or not.  The Top 13 are basically indentured servants for 19 Entertainment when it comes to their first album, and the winner is pretty much required to do their bidding.  As much as I hate the idea of Lambert cutting an album full of tween-digestible pop music, it's the most likely outcome.  Why?  Well, that's where 19 Entertainment will assume the best market is for Lambert's talents.  And, unfortunately, this might be true.

There's not many pop stars to compare Adam Lambert to.  Simon Cowell and other Brits might see him as an American Robbie Williams, one of those singers who makes slightly more artistic pop music.  The problem with that is, regardless of how popular Robbie Williams was in Europe, he never made significant inroads in the US.  Adam Lambert could certainly forge a career recording club-friendly, upbeat dance music.  His aesthetic works for that, and he most certainly has the chops to record some audacious club hits.

Is this what Lambert wants?  That's the issue.  I'm guessing it's not exactly what he would envision himself doing in a perfect world.  I could be wrong, but he's always struck me as somewhat counter-culture, and not just in terms of his sexuality.  What we also don't know is Adam Lambert's capacity as a writer.  If he can't write his own songs (there's no shame in that), then he won't have much recourse – he'll have to do exactly what 19 Entertainment wants, and what they want will probably be pure pop music.
