On the heels of the casting of Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson on rival singing competition series The Voice, ABC's American Idol reboot is looking to book two big names to join its judging panel. A source tells Us Weekly that former Idol contestant Chris Daughtry has already been tapped while TMZ reports that Katy Perry is already in negotiations.

"They wanted a panel of all ex contestants," a source tells Us Weekly. "Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson were all on their wish list."

Daughty competed on American Idol's fifth season in 2006, where Taylor Hicks was named the winner with Katharine McPhee as the runner-up. Though the "It's Not Over" singer finished in fourth place, he is the third most successful Idol contestant, behind Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Perry, on the other hand, has received many awards, including four Guinness World Records, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award. The 32-year-old singer has sold 100 million records globally throughout her career. She previously  turned down  offers to be a judge on singing competitions, including Idol when it was on Fox so she's expected to command a hefty salary in what is seemingly a big-budget reboot.

Are you excited about ABC's American Idol reboot? Do you think Chris Daughtry and Katy Perry would make good judges?
