American Idol's Worst Singers - A journey into the abyss
When we say the worst singers of American Idol, we don't really mean the worst.  William Hung will not grace this list, nor will Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum from this season's Seattle auditions.  We're talking about relatively poor singers who actually fooled the judges and America into thinking they were good.  All of the members of the following list actually made it to the Hollywood rounds, much to the bewilderment of any human able to view the Idol proceedings objectively.

Another name you won't see, despite these arbitrary parameters we have set, is the immortal Sanjaya Malakar.  Why not?  I mean, he certainly is one of the worst singers to ever grace the Hollywood stage.  Well, frankly, we're a little tired of writing about him.  And, it gets exhausting reading all of the pro-Sanjaya comments that we receive in droves any time we disparage him in any way.  And, well, there are more than enough other bad singers to discuss.

Looking back at the history of American Idol, it is amazing how many dubious decision the judges have made when casting the top 24.  With the incredible volume of possible candidates, it is incredible that they consistently bring in mediocre singers to the Hollywood stage.  I can understand when it is an Alaina Alexander or an Antonella Barba, whose looks are an obvious audience draw, but when looks don't trump the talent, when mediocrity abounds in every aspect of a contestant, it is baffling what the judges see in them.

But, alas, this is the way of things.  Idol will keep casting singers that will frustrate viewers who like good singing.  The earth keeps on spinnin'.
