This week, the Top 7 will take on songs from the 21st century. Songs from THE FUTURE (nope, the last 11 years). Get out your NOW CDs! I'm just hoping that by now the Top 7 have enough sense to stay away from auto-tuned songs, or anything by the Black Eyed Peas. Will they feel obligated to? Since Will.I.Am will just be sitting there, staring at them?
Here are my suggestions/predictions for the Top 7, which will definitely be wrong.Casey Abrams
Song: "Wonderful" by Everclear or "Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker
I think Casey has a pretty good '90s vibe, so songs from the early 2000s would work for him. He could also surprise us with "Haven't Met You Yet" by Michael Buble. Would he? Nahh.
Song: "The First Cut is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow "All-American Girl" by Carrie Underwood
I've been wanting Lauren to try on some Sheryl Crow for a while, but I think Carrie Underwood would suit her nicely, too. She should definitely keep moving toward the country/rock vibe. You know Lauren is going to sing Taylor Swift, though. James Durbin
Song: "Home" by Daughtry
It's hard to find exactly the right song for James from the 21st century. I doubt he'll want to invite the comparison by choosing a song by Adam Lambert. I guess he could sing something like "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback, but ugh, Nickelback.Jacob Lusk
Song: "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera
If he's not into singing Christina, maybe he could sing "Flying Without Wings" by Ruben Studdard. Wouldn't it be nuts if they all had to choose songs from former American Idols? The 21st century doesn't provide many songs big enough for Jacob's voice. Maybe Jacob could sing "Burn" by Usher, if Stefano didn't take it. Stefano Langone
Song: "If You're Not the One" by Daniel Bedingfield
This song is totally in Stefano's lane. I'm not sure if this would work or not, but I think Stefano should give some Justin Timberlake a try. If not, maybe he could sing something by Coldplay? Or Usher? Or Bruno Mars -- but he's already done Bruno Mars.Haley Reinhart
Song: "What a Girl Wants" by Christina Aguilera
I would like to see Haley take on a song by Xtina because she could growl to her heart's content, but who knows what she'll really pick. Leona Lewis? Colbie Caillat? Katy Perry? Oh please not Katy Perry.Scotty McCreery
Song: "I'm Already There" by Lonestar
I was thinking about picking another Travis Tritt song for him, but Scotty has already covered a lot of Travis Tritt this season, right? So a song by Lonestar seems inevitable.
Finally, I would like someone to sing "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Oh my god I have so many good ideas why don't they ever listen to meeeeeeeeee. What would YOU like the Top 7 to sing?
