'American Idol' Roundup: Not Howard Stern, Super Bowl Performances and Unborn Ducks
The world talks about the Super Bowl, but I'm still talking about American Idol. On this edition of the roundup, more talk about who's replacing who, plus Kelly Clarkson on child stars and Kris Allen's little postcard of sorts from his Philippine gigs. Oh, and I did mention the Super Bowl, right?

No, Howard Stern, you don't. I'm just glad the folks behind Idol have cleared that Howard Stern is not a frontrunner to replace Simon Cowell next season. "The search has just begun," a source told Entertainment Weekly's Michael Slezak. Because, really, if we're looking for talent who's more outrageous than Adam Lambert could ever be, then...

Is Randy going, too? With Paula gone and Simon going, suddenly they're all looking at the last original judge standing, Randy Jackson. Well, the rumors suggest that he's not going to be left standing, too. A report from the National Enquirer claims that producers are aiming to revamp the show by next year, and everybody's roles in the show will be reassessed. (More ridiculous: rumors that Randy will join The X Factor. With Simon in tow and Paula said to be in it, too, well, what the heck are we doing here?)

Chris first, then Carrie. Just in case you're a fan of either Chris Daughtry or Carrie Underwood and you don't want to watch the Super Bowl but want to watch their performances earlier, well, here are the videos. At least there isn't much of an uproar about Carrie singing to a backing track, unlike Jennifer Hudson last year....

Kelly's afraid for the kids. "I don't think this industry's a great environment for a child to grow up in," Kelly Clarkson said in an interview. "We've all heard stories of young people having problems with fame. "I know a lot of people my age in the industry who have been doing TV since they were kids and they missed out on proms and hanging out with friends."

And finally... Kris Allen eats unborn ducks. Surely you've heard of that delicacy in the Philippines, the one they call balut, or duck eggs with the unborn chicks inside? You must've seen it on Fear Factor. He wrapped up his concerts on that side of the world over the weekend, and in between he manages to squeeze this in.

And for the record, I've tried it, and it's quite fine.
