'American Idol' Roundup: A Little Recognition for Allie, A Little Shock for Adam
'American Idol' Roundup: A Little Recognition for Allie, A Little Shock for Adam
Out of necessity, I had to clump an Adam-related news item with another one, because the former standing alone makes this thing too short.  So, I shall complain again about an American Idol drip-feed, which is funny considering all that fuss about Adam Lambert coming out and Allison Iraheta getting a record deal just a couple of days ago.  But, hey, remember their duet during the week Allie got the boot?  The judges did say they should collaborate frequently, right?  So that's an excuse.  And the next paragraph is another one.  On this round-up, well... the title says it all, I believe.
Item one: The city government takes notice.  Allie found herself honored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.  She popped up at the group's meeting, and was applauded for her success from Idol and further back--notably that talent show on Telemundo, Quinceanera, which she won years before she became eligible for Idol.

"She is our very own American Idol," city supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas said, before handing over that fancily-drawn certificate on the photo.  "We wish you the very best."

Well, actually, the excuse here is that I just wanted to point out that she's sporting red and blue hair.  Which is weird.  I hear fireworks...

Item two: The cover boy takes notice.  Who doesn't think Adam's cover on Rolling Stone isn't hot?  Huh?  Never mind what he said in the interview--all that stuff about him being gay and having a short crush on winner Kris Allen--but take a look at the cover.  Told you, right?  I still think it's because Lady GaGa's cover the previous week wasn't exactly, you know... anyway.

Rolling Stone
caught up with Adam, just to show him that magazine cover.  The video's actually amusing--you can see him stare at the framed page for quite a while, with a few "wows" thrown in.  (You can't blame him--the thing was wrapped in a lot of paper.)  "It's just so crazy," he said.  And then he looks at the camera, shows off the cover, and exclaims--literally--"OMFG!"  And then he kisses it.

Yeah, that magazine cover was worth it, sir.
