David Canary was born on August 25, 1938 in Elwood, Indiana. He won a football scholarship at the University of Cincinnati, where he trained as a singer. After performing in college plays and summer stock shows, Canary learned to love acting. He landed a small role as a doctor in Peyton Place and gained popularity in Bonanza. He also appeared in Hombre with Paul Newman, and appeared as guest in Gunsmoke and played a mobster in the movie The St. Valentine's Day Massacre. He was then cast for the role of Mr. Spock in Star Trek. In 1981, he was cast in a soap opera entitled Another World. In the same year he joined the cast of All My Children, initially playing the role of Adam Chandler and later on, Adam's meek twin brother, Stuart. Other appearances include those on The Doctors, Search for Tomorrow, Alias Smith and Jones, Remember WENN, and Touched By An Angel. He has won five Daytime Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Lead Actor", and has been nominated ten more times.
Adam Chandler is played by David Canary in the soap opera All My Children. Adam is one of the wealthiest and most devious men in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. His business deals get him into trouble. He is very close to his family, especially to his twin brother Stuart, who acts the part of Adam's conscience. He is also one of the most frequently married men, as he had nine wives before his final wife, Krystal Carey Chandler.
