Elodie Bouchez was born April 5, 1973 in Montreuil-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, Île-de-France, France. After taking up theater studies at the University of Paris X, Bouchez started her professional acting career in the Serge Gainsbourg film, Stan the Flasher. She gained worldwide recognition for her moving portrayal of a teenage girl in the critically acclaimed and Academy Award-nominated film, Wild Reeds, for which she subsequently won her first Cesar. She achieved further acclaim for her work in Eric Zonca’s The Dream Life of Angels, which won for her several prestigious awards, namely, 1998 Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival and European Film Awards and the 1999 Lumiere and French Cesar Awards.
Renee Rienne, played by Elodie Bouchez on Alias, is a rogue, independent contractor who is eighth on the CIA’s most wanted list. She is credited with several high-profile crimes including the assassination of a Turkish interior minister, the deaths of three CIA agents, the theft of a cryogenic container from the Department of Special Research, and the infiltration of a US Army facility in Frankfurt, Germany. She has formed working alliances first, with Michael Vaughn, and later, with the special underground organization, APO.
