After serving as a host on the reality dating show Age of Love, Mark Consuelos will soon take the lead in Husband for Hire, a new original movie for the Oxygen cable channel.  Set in New Mexico, the upcoming feature is written and directed by Kris Isacsson, along with producers Tim Perell and Howard Gertler of Process Media, which is credited for movies such as My Sexiest Mistake, Tempting Adam and Romancing the Bride.

"Husband for Hire, with its hilarious, gorgeous cast, is a perfect romantic comedy for Oxygen," Debby Beece, Oxygen's president of programming and marketing, said in a statement.  "This will be our fourth original movie with Tim and Process Media, and nobody knows our audience better than them."

In the romantic comedy, Consuelos is set to take on the role of Nate, who is hired by a Latina businesswoman Lola, portrayed by Nadine Velazquez (My Name is Earl), to serve as her pretend husband in order to get her share of the family fortune.

The cast also includes Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell) as the ex-fiancé of Lola, Erik Estrada (Sealab 2021) as Lola's traditional father and Tempestt Bledsoe (The Cosby Show, South of Nowhere) as Lola's no-nonsense best friend.

Aside from Age of Love, Consuelos is also known for his role of Mateo Santos on All My Children where he met and fell in love with on-screen love interest and now wife Kelly Ripa.  Since leaving the long-running soap, he has worked in films, miniseries and various television series, including 1-800-Missing, where he starred as FBI Agent Antonio Cortez, and Hope & Faith, in which he played Gary “The Gooch” Gucharez.

Most recently, he became part of movies like My Super Ex-Girlfriend and The Pleasure of Your Company, and served as a guest star on Law& Order: Criminal Intent.
