The second season of
30 Rock is not only getting funnier but getting bigger as well. After learning about this season's array of notable guest stars, the NBC sitcom is now reportedly casting for Liz Lemon's (
Tina Fey) family.
Viewers were able to get to know Jack Donaghy (
Alec Baldwin) a little bit better when the show introduced his very eccentric Irish-American family, characterized by a great deal of drama and internal strife. As the show tramples onto the coming episodes, it will soon get to know Liz on a more personal level as it features her mom, dad and an older brother, who's been “off” since a skiing accident in his youth.

You know, I think they should cast Mary Tyler Moore as Liz's mother just for the sake of irony. Maybe they ...
While Jack's family, consisting of his father (Brian Murray), his overbearing mother Colleen (Elaine Stritch), his rival brother Eddie (Nathan Lane), plus other siblings and relatives, has had some exposure on the show, little has been revealed about Liz's family.
Previously, Liz just mentioned a brother named Mitch in the episode “The Rural Juror” and stated that her mother used to use their vacuum to drown out the sound of her quarrels with her husband in the episode “Fireworks.” In “Jack Meets Dennis,” she mentioned that ex-boyfriend Dennis has been asking her mother for money, indicating that Liz's mother is, at the very least, still alive.
In due course, Liz's mother, as well as other family members, will soon emerge on
30 Rock. According to
TV Guide, the show is looking for actors to fill in three family member roles, preferably with comedy backgrounds.
Fans will just have to stay tuned to find out what's in store for 30 Rock. Created by Tina Fey,
30 Rock is an Emmy Award-winning sitcom that takes viewers behind the scenes of a program like
Saturday Night Live. Apart from Fey and Baldwin, it also stars
Tracy Morgan,
Jane Krakowski,
Jack McBrayer,
Scott Adsit, and
Rachel Dratch, just to name a few.
