Emmy Supporting Comedy Finalists: NBC Scores Big with 'Office,' '30 Rock' and 'SNL'

Fred Armisen and Amy Poehler, Saturday Night LiveThe list of acting finalists for this year's Emmy Awards is nearly complete thanks to Tom O'Neil at Gold Derby. He has already uncovered all the major Drama categories, and now he has both Supporting Actor and Actress categories on the Comedy side. The lists are largely dominated by NBC, thanks to three apiece for past Emmy champions The Office and 30 Rock.

Continue reading for these top 10s and a little analysis.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Cryer, Two and a Half Men
Kevin Dillon, Entourage
Justin Kirk, Weeds
Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother
John Krasinski, The Office
Jack McBrayer, 30 Rock
Tracy Morgan, 30 Rock
Jeremy Piven, Entourage
Fred Willard, Back to You
Rainn Wilson, The Office

Plenty of doubling up on this list as The Office, 30 Rock and Entourage all get two mentions. The list is mostly as expected, though the absence of Chi McBride as Emerson Cod on Pushing Daisies is criminal. The one strange pick is Fred Willard, who surely must have gotten this far on name recognition for the canceled Back to You.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series:
Kristin Chenoweth, Pushing Daisies
Conchata Ferrell, Two and a Half Men
Jenna Fischer, The Office
Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock
Judith Light, Ugly Betty
Elizabeth Perkins, Weeds
Amy Poehler, Saturday Night Live
Jean Smart, Samantha Who?
Holland Taylor, Two and a Half Men
Vanessa Williams, Ugly Betty

The headline here is that Amy Poehler got in thanks to SNL deciding to go for the Comedy categories this season as opposed to Variety, which definitely mixes things up. It will be interesting to see if she can benefit from displaying a wide range of characters, and since she submitted the Tina Fey episode, so voters will see her as Hillary Clinton, one-legged Amber on Rock of Love, the old dancing guy from the Six Flags commercial and co-anchor of Weekend Update.

Oddly, enough, last year's winner, Jaime Pressly from My Name is Earl, is not on the list. Other surprises include Judith Light, who made the leap from guest star to series regular on Ugly Betty. And while the Desperate Housewives couldn't break in, ABC did well with two freshman shows thanks to Chenoweth and Smart.
