With the announcement that Battlestar Galactica will be ending with its fourth season, the inevitable question is what will become of our favorite Battlestar Galactica actors, writers, and producers. Already David Eick has a project on NBC’s primetime schedule, the re-imagining of Bionic Woman, which has already brought over two Battlestar Galactica stars thus far, Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) and Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) will be appearing on Bionic Woman.
Bionic Woman will be airing in the hotly contested Wednesday 9pm EST timeslot against heavyweight veteran Criminal Minds, and the hotly anticipated Grey’s Anatomy spinoff “Private Practice.”
Eick also has not given up hope on his alien serial ‘Them’ which was developed with Battlestar Galactica’s Number Six, Tricia Helfer, in the lead cast. FOX did not place the pilot on its fall schedule, but at the rate FOX drops new shows (there is no ‘let it grow’ phase on FOX) there should be plenty of room for it by mid season.
As far as the duo of Ron Moore and David Eick, there is non-specific movement on the Caprica front, although nothing official or even encouraging has come from either the creative duo or the network, except to say that the project is not dead. One could easily derive from the placidness that SciFI displayed in agreeing to let Battlestar Galactica end that a Caprica deal may be in the back of their minds.
Ronald D. Moore, whose genre pedigree includes Star Trek, Roswell, and Carnivale, is involved in a second remake of Howard Hawk’s classic Horror/Sci-Fi flick “The Thing,” previously reimagined by legendary horror director John Carpenter in the 1980’s. With the lack of Television projects on his plate, one could take this as a sign that Moore is looking more towards the big screen for his post Battlestar Galactica life.
