It's a good time to be a vampire fan. HBO's True Blood recently wrapped its first season with a suspenseful, gut-wrenching episode that left fans anxiously waiting for the show's return next summer. On the big screen, the teen vampire love story Twilight has been raking in so much cash that a sequel is already in the works. On the surface these stories appear to have a lot in common, but fans know that they present two very different takes on the vampire mythos.
Both True Blood and Twilight revolve around young girls in small towns who find themselves falling for creatures of the night. However, these two girls couldn't possibly be more different. Who is the better character, and who is the heroine young girls should be idolizing?

HBO's True Blood is the type of show destined to be a hit. Creator Alan Ball's new series, which recently wrapped its first season, combines vampires, romance, sex, drugs and lots of nudity, all of which lure in different sectors of the audience. It's like Twilight for grown-ups. However, True Blood wasn't a smash hit right out of the gate. When it premiered in September, the show pulled in a mere 1.44 million viewers, which is a far cry from HBO's past hits like Sex and the City.
True Blood may not have sucked up big ratings with its pilot episode, but the show slowly built an audience over the course of its first season. The series is picking up new viewers even faster than The Sopranos did during its run, with 2.4 million people tuning in for last week's big finale.

There are days when I wish HBO's True Blood wasn't based on a popular book series. I'm the type of person who likes to avoid spoilers as much as possible, but because Alan Ball's creation closely follows the plot of the novels, spoilers are almost impossible to ignore. There were plenty of intriguing mysteries set up in the show's first season finale that I could probably find answers to on Wikipedia, but I'd rather theorize, speculate, and see how things play out when True Blood returns for its second season next summer.
Read on to see which mysteries and cliffhangers spoiler-free fans will be stressing out over as we anxiously wait for the vampire drama to return.

True Blood season 2 is a few months away, with only the vague promise of “summer” as an air date. However, after the spectacular season 1 finale, True Blood fans are starting to get a good look at what season 2 might look like.
After resolving the serial killer storyline, True Blood offered a bit of a prequel to season 2. We already know who some of the major players will be, as the show announced several actors in minor roles who will be promoted to the main cast, and based on the final scene and the True Blood book series, we might also have an idea about who's out.
WARNING: Spoilers Below!

Last week on True Blood, we learned that the killer was Rene, aka Drew Marshall. In tonight’s season finale, everyone else learned it at about the same time, leading to one major showdown.
With Jason in prison, Rene offered Sookie a lift to her home. While she cooked up some lunch, Arlene discovered Rene’s stash of vampire sex films, including the one with Maudette, while Sam smelled Rene’s vest and recognized the scent. At the same time, Rene, whose thoughts don’t have a fake Cajun accent, can no longer keep his murderous thoughts at bay, so Sookie sees him thinking about murdering poor Grandma Stackhouse.

In our recent interview with True Blood's Sam Trammell, the actor hinted that the first season finale of the vampire drama ends with a number of "really exciting cliffhangers." Viewers will no doubt be left on the edge of their seats as tonight's big season ender, entitled "You'll Be the Death of Me," wraps up. Last week's episode revealed the identity of the Bon Temps serial killer, but will Sookie and Sam figure out who it is before he kills again?
To get fans ready for tonight's finale, we have an exciting promo for the episode.
