The season premiere of Gossip Girl is right around the corner, scheduled to air on the CW this Monday at 8pm. Obviously, I am over the moon about this because OMG, ILSABRWT! (That’s “I love shows about beautiful, rich, white teenagers” in GGspeak, of course.)
When last we saw these beloved characters, everyone was broken up and sad. Serena (Blake Lively) and Dan (Penn Badgley) broke up, and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) waved the white flag to Blair (Leighton Meester), the true Queen B of the Upper East Side—the B standing for “bitchiness,” of course. Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) were positioned to be Manhattan’s new power couple, but Chuck, fearing commitment, ditched her at the heliport. Also, Nate (Chace Crawford) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) broke up, but they were a couple for, like, two seconds, so it hardly seems to matter. Anyway, the point is, everyone is single and miserable, which sets up the season premiere perfectly, and I’ve managed to get my hands on some juicy clips from the season premiere.
SPOILER ALERT!!! GO NO FURTHER IF YOU DON’T LIKE SPOILERS
Gossip Girl kicks it Hamptons-style in the second season premiere, entitled “Summer, Kind of Wonderful.” According to the CW’s official synopsis, Serena (Blake Lively) plays the role Nate’s (Chace Crawford) beard, covering up his scandalous affair with a married older woman (guest star Madchen Amick). Serena, however, has been secretly mourning her break up with Dan (Penn Badgley), who decides to take a trip over to the Hamptons at the end of the summer to see where things stand with her. Jenny (Taylor Momsen) also makes her way to the Hamptons, as any Manhattan social climber should do in the summer, sneaking into an exclusive party and meeting socialite Tinsley Mortimer. Meanwhile, the drama between Blair and Chuck intensifies when she returns from Europe with a hot new boy-toy. There’s also some stuff about Jenny (Taylor Momsen) sneaking into an exclusive Hamptons party.
Here’s the first clip.
This first clip shows that Serena’s fake relationship is not such a secret after all. Of course, Chuck Bass would make it his business to keep up-to-date with everyone’s dirty laundry because it might come in handy sometime. It also seems that Chuck is ruing his decision to stand up Blair at the heliport at the beginning of the summer.
In the second clip, Chuck is once again front and center. He is having a meal with his new step-brother Eric (Connor Paolo) and step-grandmother CeCe Rhodes, and for some reason, Blair and her new beau Marcus are also in attendance. May I say that Chuck’s wardrobe is even more spectacular than ever? That mint-green suit and bowtie would look terrifically foppish on a lesser actor, like some drama geek in a high school production of The Importance of Being Earnest, but Ed Westwick makes it look deliciously evil. He’s clearly posturing with Marcus to establish his position as Blair’s main squeeze.
Check back right here on Monday morning for two more video clips of the Gossip Girl season premiere. You know you’ll love them. And don’t forget to tune in on Monday night on the CW for the premiere.
