All six coaches on The Voice will be back next year. No, they’re not adding two more spinning chairs to the set over the summer, but according to EW, deals have been made to bring back Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Shakira.

The site reports that the deals include having the original foursome, Adam, Blake, Cee Lo and Xtina, return for season 5 this fall, but for season 6 in the spring, Usher and Shakira wil return with Adam and Blake, recreating the current roster.

The idea of having different coaching line-ups for the fall and spring seasons is a good one as it can hopefully keep the show fresh despite moving to the two-per-year format that American Idol has purposefully avoided.

Shakira and Usher have been surprisingly great additions to The Voice in season 4, so the news that they will return is good for fans. It will be interesting to see how they react come the fall when Cee Lo and Xtina come back, even though I get the sense that most fans would be fine if they didn’t. On the bright side, it means season 5 will include an animal of some sort, following in the footsteps of Purrfect the Cat and Lady the Pink Cockatoo. My fingers are crossed for a lemur.

The part that I find most interesting is that NBC is locking in Adam Levine and Blake Shelton fort two more seasons. While the other four coaches get to rotate on and off, this constant schedules doesn’t give either of them a whole lot of free time. But perhaps Adam and Blake want to stick around because, seeing as how Shakira and Usher are being reviewed far more favorably than their predecessors, the Maroon 5 frontman and country star might be afraid that America would like their replacements more than them.

As previously reported, The Voice season 5, now with its original quartet of coaches, will begin Monday, September 23 at 8pm (most likely kicking off NBC’s premiere week). The Voice season 6, with the returns of Shakira and Usher, will begin Monday, February 24 at 8pm, one day after the Closing Ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics (which I’m sure will be filled with promotions for The Voice and NBC’s mid-season lineup).

What do you think of the two coaching panels for seasons 5 and 6?
