Tonight is the last night of the season two ending of The Voice quarter-finals! This season has been moving along at an enjoyable pace, I must say. Controversy-filled weeks of blind auditions, Justin Bieber surprises and the unmistakable sexual tension between Adam and Christina have brought us here. We still have a few weeks more to go, but it’s always good to remind everyone of the buzz-worthy reasons why we all watch.

Last night, we watched Team Adam and Team Cee Lo perform. Thanks to instant eliminations, Adam sent Pip home and Cee Lo said goodbye to James Massone. So for this elimination show, Mathai, Katrina Parker and Tony Lucca of Team Adam and Juliet Simms, Jamar Rogers and Cheesa of Team Cee Lo stand in danger of being next on the chopping block. Who has America saved? Plus, we have a live performance from Florence + The Machine!

Carson let’s us know that Juliet Simms and Tony Lucca topped the iTunes Rock charts again with their performances last night! Awesome job, you two!

Guest Performance
Florence + The Machine
“No Light No Light”

I’m a fan of Florence Welch’s unique voice and this performance only adds to that. There’s tons of dancers, though. It’s a bit distracting. I wonder if Blake will have something to add about that. Team Cee Lo stands behind the choir, helping with background vocals. Were they there the entire time? I had no idea.

Time for business!

Let’s see who America has voted to stay in the competition.

Team Adam

Adam: “… several people tried to kill me.” In response to sending Pip home. He jokes, but I don’t doubt that being a little bit true.

America saves
Tony Lucca
– Good job, America! You got it right!

Katrina Parker and Mathai walk offstage hand-in-hand to prepare for last chance songs.

Team Cee Lo

Cee Lo: “Mixed emotions,” he says on the topic of eliminating James Massone. “This is very difficult for me,” he seems really upset, seeing these three before him onstage.

America saves
Jamar Rogers
– Two for two, America! Keep it up!

Now, Juliet Simms and Cheesa are in danger of leaving the competition.

Sprint Lounge Check-In

Christina Milian stands with Tony Lucca who is “beside myself,” as he says. His little boy and wife are there also. Jamar Rogers hangs with his mother across the room. “I just wanna take this time to thank all my family that took the time to call,” he expresses with tears in his eyes. “I don’t wanna say goodbye to anyone, but I know this is not the end of the road,” great words for his teammates Juliet Simms and Cheesa.

Last Chance Performances – Team Adam

Artist: Mathai
Song: “Cowboy Cassanova” by Carrie Underwood
“Cowboy Cassanova?” Why would she pick this song? This song does nothing to showcase the interesting things her voice can do. It’s just all around odd. I do admire her determination, though. Mathai came out with confidence and attacked the song.

Blake: “It’s hard not to love Mathai … I’m glad to see her embrace her hillbilly side.”

Christina: “I could feel the nerves in it, but I know it’s really tough to be up there.”

Cee Lo: “I appreciated it.”

Me: I think that means they didn’t really like it.

Artist:
Katrina Parker
Song: “Perfect” by P!nk
“Adele Barbie” comes out on a mission. Her voice is still on point, following a great performance last night. I believe that Katrina could have come out and sang almost anything and toppled that song choice Mathai made. I’m pretty sure she’ll be fine tonight.

Blake: “I know Tony got the vote from America, but Katrina’s got the best voice on your team.”

Christina: “I think you’re really great at picking songs for yourself … I’m most excited to hear original material sung by you.”

Cee Lo: “I think that you sang with a lot of clarity and conviction under this pressure.”

Spring Lounge

Christina M. sits on the couch with Team Christina and Team Blake. Chris Mann is “just having fun watching everybody.” Favorites of last night were the “flying man” and “fire.” Erin Willett comments that there should now be “a flying man on fire.”

Eliminations

Team Adam

Blake: “There’s things to love about each of ’em. Katrina just came out here like a tornado … She brings it.”

Christina: “With no doubt, Katrina.”

Cee Lo: “I do like something about the both of you. I do like Mathai.”

Adam: After speaking to each contestant and expressing his thoughts on their evolvement. “I think the potential for you to both have THAT moment is very real … because I have to make a decision right now …” Two and a half hours later … “I really didn’t think Katrina was going to be able to make it as far as she did. You blew my mind. Mathai … I kept waiting for you to explode.”

Saved
Katrina Parker
– Another right choice!

Going Home
Mathai:
“Thank you to America for showing me how much I really want to sing for the rest of my life.” Aww she’s so sweet!

Sprint Lounge Revisited

Katrina Parker now stands with Christina Milian and her wild mane of hair. Katrina is “shocked and obviously very happy.” To Team Cee Lo she says, “lay it out on the stage because you don’t want to have any regrets.”

More Last Chance Performances – Team Cee Lo

Artist: Cheesa
Song: “Already Gone” by Kelly Clarkson
Is it nerves? I believe the powerful growl is hitting this song a little too hard. This is a beautiful ballad that doesn’t need that much effort. Sorry, Cheesa. I think she may have overdone it just now.

Blake: “It’s hard not to get excited when Cheesa performs. I will say that I detected a little bit of flatness.”

Christina: “I think that you’ve proven that you’re something to be reckoned with … you were a hair under pitch almost the whole time.”

Adam: “They’re totally right … Today wasn’t as strong.”

Artist: Juliet Simms
Song: “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia
She sounds good and she’s working the crowd. Juliet lends a gritty rock feel to a more mainstream pop tune. It’s a great marriage. You can also feel her emotion behind the lyrics, as well.

Blake: “I think I was the only one that didn’t hit my button for you … I love you now. I think that’s a testament to how great you are.”

Christina: “‘Roxanne’ was it for me like I’m waiting for you to sing another ‘Roxanne.'”

Eliminations Continued

Blake: “I’m thinking about this as a fan and as a fan if I’m tuning in next week I can’t stand the thought of not seeing Juliet up there.”

Christina: “Hands down, I’m definitely a Juliet fan.”

Cee Lo: “First of all, for me, can I see both of you lovely ladies smile in the face of this adversity.” That’s nice, I suppose? Basically, he thinks that Cheesa has a classically trained voice and Juliet’s voice is like “art imitating life and life is not perfect.” Wow! With that said …
