Remember when I told you about Melinda Clarke joining the cast of The Vampire Diaries this season? Well, here’s another scoop that involves the former O.C. actress. Warning: Spoilers ahead!!!

Clarke, who is expected to appear on The Vampire Diaries for at least three episodes, will not only be stirring up trouble as Kelly Donovan, Matt’s irresponsible, hard-drinking absentee mother. It turns out she’s also a cougar who is on the hunt for a much younger, attractive and willing-to-do-anything male.

Enter Damon. He’s probably every cougar’s dream guy and executive producer Kevin Williamson seems to think that he’s the perfect companion to Clarke’s character.

“If I didn’t have Kelly and Damon hook up there would be no God,” Williamson reveals to Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello. “What’s the point of doing TV if you’re not going to put those two characters together? That’s going to be a fun relationship to explore.”

But Kelly has more to offer than being a bad mom and a lustful cougar. According to Williamson, Clarke’s character also shares a rich history with the town’s adult population. “We’ll reveal that she was friends with Sheriff [Elizabeth] and Elena’s mother,” he says. “The three of them were really tight friends back in the day. Sheriff and Kelly, in particular, have ongoing issues to deal with.”

Catch Melinda Clarke’s Vampire Diaries debut on March 25 on The CW.
