FX has made some big announcements regarding four of its shows, including premiere dates for American Horror Story and Fargo, along with a renewal.

Anthology series American Horror Story will debut season 5, subtitled Hotel, on Wednesday, October 7 at 10pm. Cast members this season include Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Matt Bomer. Less than a week later, Fargo returns for season 2 on Monday, October 12 at 10pm, and will take place in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Luverne, Minnesota.

But before any of those shows return to TV in the fall, FX will premiere a brand-new series called The Bastard Executioner on Tuesday, September 15 at 10pm with a two-hour opener. Created by Sons of Anarchy showrunner Kurt Sutter, this medieval drama, the first season of which will include 10 episodes, centers on 14th century warrior Wilkin Brattle; a divine messenger implores him to change course on his life and become a journeyman executioner. The series stars Lee Jones, Katey Sagal, Stephen Moyer and Flora Spencer-Longhurst.

But this isn’t the only news coming out of FX. The network has also announced that The Strain is being renewed for a third season, which will air in summer 2016.

Eric Schrier, President of Original Programming at FX, said in a statement, “Guillermo [del Toro] and Carlton [Cuse] have delivered two thrilling seasons of The Strain that are captivating and visually arresting, doing justice to the original novel trilogy and meeting fans’ high expectations in the process. We’re excited to see them carry this powerful story into a third season on FX.”

Season 2 of The Strain, currently airing on Sunday nights at 10pm, sees New York City rapidly falling to the epidemic. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and Dr. Nora Martinez are trying to create a biological weapon, and Abraham Setrakian is also looking for ways to kill the strigoi.

The Strain is averaging 3.1 million viewers every week, and a 1.8 in the Live+7 demo.

Are you excited that The Strain has been renewed? Are you looking forward to the return of American Horror Story and Fargo? And will you check out FX’s new series The Bastard Executioner?
