This weekend is the beginning of the Battlestar Galactica three part finale that centers around deposed President Gaius Baltar’s trial.  Earlier, President Roslin pretty much promised us a Kangaroo court, but now Apollo seems poised to demand a fair trial for Baltar.  What twists do the Battlestar Galactica writers have in mind?  Will Baltar get a fair trial?  Will a new Cylon be exposed?  What surprise turn of events could lead us into the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica.  Read on to find out.

Battlestar Galactica spoilers are pretty hard to come by.  There are maybe a couple of good sources online, and the production itself is highly secure.  Battlestar Galactica producers definitely know how to keep the spoilers from leaking.  Some of the biggest clues have come from Battlestar Galactica producers themselves.  David Eicks, for instance, made this very revealing comment to SciFi.com regarding the finale:

“I think the audience has to start by asking the question, ‘What really defines a Cylon?’ That’s part of what Season 4 is really going to be dedicated to. And the tip of that iceberg will be introduced in the season finale.”

Could this mean that the Cylons have created hybrids aside from the breeding project?  One big reveal that is commonly known is that one of the secret five will be revealed to us during Baltar’s trial and it will be someone we know.  Some rumors suggest that as many as four of the final five are going to be revealed.  Matt Roush at TvGuide had this to say about the finale:

“The twists in the finale will make you question everything you thought you knew about nearly everyone and everything.”

That is a pretty wide sweeping statement!  As for Baltar’s fate, James Callis had this to say about season four (Source Wizard Universe)

I knew that the show was going to get picked up. I just didn’t know when and we don’t know how many episodes we’re going to be doing, but it is another phenomenal opportunity and gift. After this third season and the way that it ends, it’s so spectacular and exciting and gives us the most wonderful springboard for the next season, which can’t fail to be more exciting and more worrisome and more desperate and more apocalyptic. That’s the way we’re ratcheting up the tension, and you’re going to find out a few things that will be upsetting and exciting.

Certainly sounds like Baltar is going to be involved in Season four, or at least James Callis will be.
