This is perhaps one of the most anticipated bits of info every Lostie in the world is looking for: the name of Lost‘s very last episode, which airs on May 23.

Well, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have confirmed the series finale’s title on the official Lost podcast, and for those who are expecting to read some meaning into this, then maybe you’ll get disappointed. Episodes 6.17 and 6.18, Lost‘s final episodes, will be named:

“The End”

In the words of Carlton Cuse, “we couldn’t probably make a more clear statement as to the fact that we are bringing our story to a close.”

And true enough, “The End” is an absolutely succinct episode name. In fact, it’s so succinct you can’t really read much into it except for the fact that this episode is, well, the end of Lost. Unless, of course, you flip it another way and think that it’s not just the show that’s ending. The Island? Everybody on the Island? The games Jacob and the Man in Black play?

But now the episode title is revealed, I’m waiting for one thing: Lost‘s final scene. Any early guesses?
