Biography

Australian native Kym Johnson began dancing at age 2 and began to focus her efforts on ballroom dancing at age 13. Her first success as a dancer came in 1998 when she and her partner, Tomas Atkocevicius, placed second at the Australian Dancesport Championships. She went on to become the Australian Ballroom Champion, representing her country in international tilts.

She retired from professional dancing in 2001 but continued performing on stage, joining the world tour of the dance production Burn the Floor. She became more familiar to the Australian public, though, when she joined the Aussie version of Dancing with the Stars, as a pro dancer. She won the second season of the show, paired with TV presenter Tom Williams.

After an appearance on Celebrity Survivor, Johnson flew to Los Angeles, where she joined the American version of Dancing with the Stars. She holds the distinction of being the only pro dancer to win the DWTS crown in two countries, having won the title with Donny Osmond in the ninth season.

Johnson has also appeared in several TV ads, as well as in a pictorial for the Aussie version of FHM.

During week 9 of the 16th season of DWTS, Kym and her celebrity partner Ingo Rademacher were eliminated.
