Welcome to the Golden Globe Awards, where the TV nominees are always delightfully insane. There’s no other awards show where you can see total unknowns like Narcos, Mozart in the Jungle and Casual score major nominations. Where else can the CW get TWO nominations in the same category? Where else can Starz’s Outlander receive more nominations than Game of Thrones and Mad Men…combined?

Yes, those are just a few of the highlights from this year’s Golden Globe nominations, announced Thursday morning. With few exceptions, new shows ruled the day, especially those on Netflix, Amazon and Starz. Just look at Comedy Lead Actor, where returning winner Jeffrey Tambor is up against the likes of Aziz Ansari and Rob Lowe, plus Patrick Stewart and Gael Garcia Bernal (kudos to you if you can name all five shows those men are nominated for without researching it).

4 Big Surprises from the 2016 Golden Globe Nominations>>>

Defending Drama Series winner The Affair was shut-out except for a supporting nomination for Maura Tierney while last year’s Comedy Lead Actress winner Gina Rodriguez from Jane the Virgin is back, and she brought along a second CW starlet, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s Rachel Bloom. The two will compete against Jamie Lee Curtis, who inexplicably is nominated as a Lead Actress from FOX’s Scream Queens.

Overall, the TV nominations are led by Mr. Robot, Outlander, Transparent, Fargo, American Crime and Wolf Hall, all with three nominations apiece.

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, January 10 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on NBC, hosted by Ricky Gervais.
