Taryn Manning Biography:
Taryn Manning was born on November 6, 1978 in Falls Church, Virginia. In 1981, Manning’s parents separated, and in 1993, her father passed away. She spent some of her formative years in Tucson, Arizona, and was a student at the Orange County High School of the Arts in Los Alamitos, California. Manning has been dancing since she was twelve years old and is an accomplished karate fighter. She broke through the entertainment industry with minor roles in various films and television shows. Her acting credits include Get Real, The Practice, Boston Public, NYPD Blue, Popular, Crazy/Beautiful, Crossroads, White Oleander, 8 Mile, A Lot Like Love, Cold Mountain and Hustle & Flow. In 2005, Manning experienced the scare of her life when the plane she was on, JetBlue Airways Flight 292, was forced to make an emergency landing with defective landing gears. Currently, Manning can be seen in the Fox television series, Drive.
Ivy Chitty, on the drama series Drive, is portrayed by Taryn Manning. Ivy, a cocktail waitress in New Orleans, became a local celebrity for helping with the evacuation efforts after Hurricane Katrina hit. Ivy is bent on keeping her celebrity status and will do anything to stay in the radar. She, along with aspiring actress Leigh Barnthouse and nurse Susan Chamblee, teamed up for “The Race.”
