Born in 1977, Kym Johnson is an Australian dancer who has also achieved success as a model and a television personality. She has been dancing since she was two years old, but started performing as a ballroom dancer when she was fifteen. Together with her partner, Latvian Tomas Atkocevicius, Johnson finished second at the Australian Dancesport Championships and participated at the Blackpool Ballroom Championships. In 2001, she stopped competing professionally completely, but went on to make numerous appearances in television shows like the Australian and American versions of Dancing with the Stars.
Johnson’s stint on the Australian Dancing with the Stars lasted for three seasons, with her and partner, Tom Williams, winning the competition during season 2. She joined the American version of the show in 2006, where she was partnered with controversial talk show host, Jerry Springer . On the fourth season, Johnson was paired with former ‘N Sync member Joey Fatone , finishing second behind speedskater Apolo Anton Ohno and his partner Julianne Hough . For season 5, Johnson was paired with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban , and the pair was voted off in the fifth week. On season 6, Johnson is paired with magician Penn Jilette . This partnership was hardly successful, as they were eliminated on the second week. In 2008, Johnson was cast on the seventh season of Dancing with the Stars with NFL player Warren Sapp.
Johnson has appeared in a string of events and films, such as a Burn the Floor, a touring ballroom dance production, Elton John’s 50th birthday party, the Blade Runner launch party, and the film Strictly Ballroom. He also appears in the DVD Dancing with the Stars: Cardio Dance alongside Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Ashly Delgrosso-Costa. Meanwhile, in March, 2006, she posed for the Australian version of FHM.
