It seems The Office viewers have been going crazy over the show’s amusing Dwight Schrute Bobbleheads.  As of last week, the NBC Universal Store had sold over more than 150,000 units of the product, which is modeled after the hilarious character played by Rainn Wilson.  The bobbleheads first hit shelves in April 2006, and has since then become the biggest seller in the store’s eight-year history.

“The desire to take home a piece of The Office with the Dwight bobblehead has exceeded all of our expectations,” Judith Dutch, vice president of NBC Universal’s retail operations and consumer marketing, said.

Executive producer Greg Daniels, meanwhile, joked, “Yes, they are fun, but they also serve a business purpose.  People who want to manage by consensus can buy six and keep them nodding all the time to whatever they say.”

In celebration of this milestone, two special bobbleheads signed by Wilson are available online for show fans to win.  The first autographed bobblehead is currently part of an online auction at nbc.com, and therefore, will go to the highest bidder.  Bidding began on Monday, January 21, and will end next Wednesday, January 30.  All of the proceeds from the auction will go to The Mona Foundation, Wilson’s charity of choice that supports education projects around the world.

The second signed bobblehead will be given away in a sweepstakes held at nbcstore.com/dwight. The sign-up period for the chance to win the bobblehead will last until February 21, 2008.  The sweepstakes winner will also be given a DVD copy of the show’s third season.

“We’re very excited to offer these extremely rare prizes to the devoted Office viewers and NBCStore.com visitors,” Dutch said.  “This is a great example of how the NBC Universal Store goes far beyond conventional merchandise to provide fun and unique experiences for fans to connect with their favorite NBC Universal shows.”

The bobbleheads can be purchased for $19 each at the NBC Experience Store in Rockefeller Center or at www.nbcuniversalstore.com.
