As hinted in a previous article, the last pre-strike episode of CSI: NY will finally shed light on the blurry line between real and virtual crime-solving as the forensics team continues their pursuit of the killer that has escaped in “Down the Rabbit Hole.” So far, only a few details have been revealed about this much-awaited episode until now.

Read on for more spoilers on the CSI: NY episode called “Playing with Matches,” which is expected to air on February 6.

The 14th episode of season 4 finds the team investigating two polar opposites: fire and water. First, they investigate the case of a young woman who is found dead in a self-cleaning public restroom. Although it appears to be a freak accident seeing that she was drowned by water that pushed her back when she opened the bathroom door, it turns out that it’s foul play.

Much of the evidence has been compromised given that the bathroom was automated and water has washed away any blood or prints that might have been of use to the investigation, but the CSIs are able to conclude that the bathroom was sabotaged due to the excessive water that caused the victim to drown. Moreover, they also find out that the drain in the bathroom was blocked to keep the water from escaping.

During the autopsy, they discover blood underneath the victim’s fingernails that will hopefully match her attacker. But as forensics team digs deeper, they find out that the person who matched the DNA is already behind bars.

While Stella (Melina Kanakaredes) and Mac (Gary Sinise) are focusing on the dead woman’s case Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Lindsay (Anna Belknap) are investigating the murder of a young man who died on the street when his body caught fire

CSI: NY airs every Wednesday at 10pm ET/PT on CBS.
