The romantic saga of Cory and Topanga may continue. Disney Channel is in the early stages of developing a reboot of the classic TGIF series Boy Meets World titled Girl Meets World.

The new show would follow the lives of married parents Cory and Topanga (Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel) as their daughter navigates the world of growing up.

The original Boy Meets World aired in the 1990s on ABC's acclaimed TGIF lineup full of heart-warming, family-friendly sitcoms. To many TV viewers of a certain age (myself included), it was an important show for its touching friendships and romances and, most importantly, the wise lessons provided from the greatest teacher in TV history, Mr. Feeny.

The idea of a Boy Meets World reboot is exciting, but it's not the only classic TGIF show that could make a triumphant comeback. Here are just a few ideas for how other shows might be re-imagined for a new generation.

Imperfect Strangers

For eight seasons fans loved the wacky hijinks of straight-laced Larry and his wacky distant cousin Balki Bartokomous. In the reboot, Balki's American-daughter Laura is fresh out of high school, but before going to college, she wants to reconnect with her family roots so she travels to the island of Mypos to live with her distant female cousin. Together they live out their exciting lives in this reversal of the classic fish-out-of-water story where the American girl struggles to understand the ridiculous customs of her ancestors' homeland.

New Family Matters

Steve Urkle and Laura Winslow are married and trying to deal with their owns kids in this new version of the traditional family sitcom. They have two kids, a 16-year-old jock who has absolutely nothing in common with his geeky dad and a precocious 13-year-old daughter whose futuristic science experiments in the basement often cause chaos to ensue.

Full House: The Next Generation

D.J. Tanner struggles to raise her three sons after her husband Steve tragically dies. For help her little sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy Gibbler move in to help D.J. raise her boys in this reversal of the original's "men raising girls" storyline.

What do you think? Is rebooting Boy Meets World a fantastic idea? Is it so good that maybe it should air on ABC instead of Disney Channel? And what other TGIF shows would you like to see remade?
