FOX’s Nashville, a reality series/soap opera about several aspiring country music artists, was pulled off the air and put on temporary hiatus after only after two weeks, due to poor ratings.  One of the show’s cast members, Matt Jenkins, recently revealed in his MySpace blog that he himself perceived the show to be a risky undertaking.

“To be honest I went into this whole thing realizing what a risk it was going to be doing a show like this… good and bad!” he wrote on an entry dated October 16.  “Having seen the first [two] episodes I certainly have mixed feelings about the experience…”

Despite this, Matt Jenkins expressed his deep gratitude for all the people who tuned in to Nashville and have continued to show their support for his music career.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who watched Nashville in its limited airtime this season,” Jenkins wrote.  “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of you for being so supportive and letting me know what you thought about the show and my music.”

Matt Jenkins, a native of Texas, has dreamed of becoming a performer since he was in fifth grade.  He has lived in Nashville for several years, using most of his time to further improve his songwriting and singing skills.

Jenkins is known for his old-school and classical-sounding voice, and lists Brad Paisley, John Mayer and Randy Travis as some of his musical inspirations.  Among his other hobbies are listening to live musical performances and working out.

At present, Jenkins is busy recording new songs, which will soon be available on his MySpace music page.

“I’ve been in the studio the last couple weeks recording some new stuff and I’m really excited for you to hear it,” Matt Jenkins wrote.

As for when Nashville will return on air, FOX has yet to formally announce a date.  Given its performance, many are speculating that the show is already on the chopping block.  Still, Jenkins does not regret being on the series, especially since it gave him the opportunity to broaden his connections.

“I don’t think anybody really knows when or if it’s going to come back on…  but if [it] never airs again it was [definitely] worth it knowing I got a chance to get connected with so many of you!” he said.
