NBC has initially picked up 13 episodes of a new drama about a detective who is given a second chance. The said pilot is entitled Life, which will be taking up the Wednesday niche at 10/9c as part of the network’s fall lineup.

Life follows the life of detective Charlie Crews as he returns to the force after spending years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Now, he returns and struggles in a world that has moved on without him, while brining in a new found philosophy.

Leading the series is Damien Lewis who stars as detective Charlie Crews, a former police officer who now returns to the force after years of false imprisonment. Lewis is an English actor most notable for Band of Brothers, Much Ado About Nothing, Stormbreaker, and Friends and Crocodiles.

Sarah Shahi stars as Dani Reese, detective Charlie Crews’ reluctant new partner. Shahi is an actress, model and former NFL cheerleader. Her credits include Alias, Dawson’s Creek, and The Sopranos.

Melissa Sagemiller stars as Constance Griffiths, Charlie Crews’ close friend and attorney who got him out of prison and has a special chemistry with him despite her being married. Sagemiller is known for films like Sorority Boys, Get Over It, Life on the Edge, and on the television series Sleeper Cell.

Robin Weigert stars as Lt. Davis, Charlie Crews’ boss. Weigert has appeared on numerous television shows like Deadwood, Cold Case, Judging Amy and NYPD Blue among others.

Adam Arkin stars as Ted Early, Charlie Crews’ former cellmate. Arkin is known for appearing on Northern Exposure, Fraiser, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and Chicago Hope.

Produced by NBC Universal Television Studio with Rand Ravich, Far Shariat, and David Semel, Life is scheduled to premiere on September 26, 2007.
