It’s surprisingly hard to find new updates on How I Met Your Mother nowadays so I’ve decided to focus on what appears to be the next biggest brainchild of series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Livin’ on a Prayer, as reported previously, is a CBS comedy pilot about a couple, Tommy and Gina, who are dating and contemplating the next stage of their relationship. It’s shot in the same manner of How I Met Your Mother but the setting takes place in Pittsburgh.

Sounds familiar? The title Livin’ on a Prayer is no stranger to Bon Jovi fans since this is also the title of their second single from the Slippery When Wet album. The show’s characters, Gina and Tommy, are somewhat inspired by Bon Jovi’s songs as well.

The cast: Joe Manganiello will play Doug, a former high-school football star turned “good-guy” husband and father, as reported previously.  After the announcement of Manganiello, the first actor to be cast on Livin’ on a Prayer, CBS has booked the pilot’s lead stars, Kyle Bornheimer and Lindsay Sloane. Bornheimer will play Tommy, described as “a lovable if slightly unkempt man in his 30s, while Sloane, will portray Gina “a waitress who fantasizes about running her own business.” Last but not the least, the pilot also features Emmy-winner Jaime Pressly, who has been cast to play Steph, Doug’s veterinarian wife.

What are they famous for? Manganiello has appeared on One Tree Hill and several episodes of How I Met Your Mother. He has also been cast on the third season of True Blood. Sloane, on the other hand, is credited for Help Me Help You, while Bornheimer has starred on Romantically Challenged and Worst Week. As for Pressly, she’s popularly known for playing Joy on My Name is Earl.
