I just can't help but get a little extra excited when Nia is on top of the pyramid, and this is her second week in a row! It's probably because I'm a sucker for the underdog, but she has really come a long way since we met her in the first season of Dance Moms
, and I'm even more impressed that Abby is recognizing her improvement. Not only has Nia twirled her way to the top of the pyramid, but she is also honored with one of Abby's prestigious scholarships alongside Maddie that will help advance her dance career. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but when the announcement was made I definitely had to grab the Kleenex. Let's all shout a celebratory Woohoo for Nia!
Show 'Em What You Got
Dance Moms is available on Amazon Prime.
It's the annual Abby Lee Dance Studio Concert, and this time it really IS
all about Abby. The show is put together and by choreographed by the coach, and not only is her reputation on the line, but she also hopes that it will attract more students to her studio. I have to say that I'm a little surprised she chooses a hip-hop number for her competition team to perform considering I don't think we've seen one in either season thus far.
And to be honest, Abby doesn't exactly come off as a hip-hop kind of woman. The girls don't seem too shaken up by the change in choreography, except Maddie who sounds a little nervous when she says that her team can't 'hip or hop.' (Is this not the cutest comment ever?) As usual, Abby has to stir up the mothers in some way or another and does just that when she invites Payton to join the group number for the show. Really, Abby? Has this decision ever gone well for you when you've done it before?
There is an obvious answer to this question, and it is NO
. Immediately tensions flare between Kelly and Leslie, and it almost causes Brooke and Paige to miss the concert. I understand that Payton may be talented in the hip-hope arena, but for everyone's sanity I think she should be left out of the group from now on. And I'm sorry to say it, but the number didn't even turn out that well and I think the girls should stick to their lyrical or acro numbers. At least the moms get to release some anger after all of the fighting and hit up a bar where things get a little crazy with some attractive male company. Aren't most of the moms married or dating? I'm just saying...An Unwelcomed Guest
It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Cathy and her bad apples manage to weasel their way to Abby's show just to mock everything about it. Meeting at a competition with many teams is one thing, but to show up specifically to your enemy's dance recital just to say how poorly executed it is, is quite another. And then she has the audacity to go to the after party and try and recruit Abby's future dancers! Cathy has taken this rivalry to a whole new level and the only thing it does is make her look petty and pathetic. If you are so confident in your company and your team, why would you waste your time traveling all the way to the ALDS just to stir up trouble? All I can say is karma will come back to get you, and maybe that's why the apples continue to lose to Abby and her team!
Next week a new mom and daughter are brought to the ALDS and this mom seems to have one sassy personality! Will she clash with the moms or fit right in? Did you like the team's new hip- hop style this week? Leave your comments and come back next week for your Dance Moms
