Contrary to various internet reports regarding the new cast of Dancing with the Stars, Nia Peeples, one of the stars of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, set the record straight and said she will not be participating in the highly-popular reality series.

The 45-year-old singer-actress told her fans of her non-involvement with the reality series through her official website.

“Guess what?  It’s a [rumor]!  But everyone here in town is hearing the same thing you’re hearing so don’t feel bad,” Nia Peeples said.  However, she also expressed delight over having been considered for the show.

“The sad thing is I won’t be on [Dancing With the Stars] this season.  The good thing is a rumor means they are seriously considering [putting me on the show].  Also CBS called my agent in a panic when they heard, complaining that they were just starting to develop my character on [The Young and the Restless] and would be needing more of my time.  The other good thing is that I can contractually do it next season.”

Peeples joined the cast of The Young and the Restless early this year.  She plays Karen Taylor, Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) campaign manager.  Prior to the daytime drama, Peeples appeared in several primetime series, including Walker, Texas Ranger, Andromeda, Barbershop and Early Edition.

According to Nia Peeples’ website, her latest air dates on The Young and the Restless are: September 10, 17, 18, 24, October 1, 2 and 4.

Although Peeples won’t be appearing on Dancing with the Stars this season, fans of the reality series can expect to see a contestant representing daytime television.  All My Children‘s Cameron Mathison has signed on to do the reality series and will be competing with professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska.

This is not the first time, though, that a daytime actor has graced the stage of Dancing with the Stars.  The first season of the reality series featured General Hospital‘s Kelly Monaco and daytime veteran John O’ Hurley.  The actors faced off the in the finals, and Monaco was ultimately crowned the winner.
