Get your tissues ready, Vampire Diaries fans. Filming has wrapped on the series finale.

The events of the series finale are obviously still very much under wraps so there could be a happy ending coming to the supernatural gang from Mystic Falls. But either way, the cast has taken to Twitter and Instagram to talk about wrapping filming. For longtime fan it should be very emotional.

Nina Dobrev Shares Photos and Pranks from Final Days on Vampire Diaries>>> Candice King was among the first to post anything about the final day of filming. She posted a very short video on her Instagram account of the last day ticker on set. From there the floodgates pretty much opened wide.

Vampire Diaries series co-creator and executive producer Julie Plec posted a picture on her Twitter account of the very impressive wrap party cake. It’s a completely edible recreation of Mystic Falls. While the characters populating the town are little more than cake versions of stick figures, the buildings are wildly intricate.

Candice King’s daughter didn’t have much time to admire the beauty of the cake. The actress posted a picture on her Instagram account of her daughter eagerly looking to devour the cake.

No wonder she wanted to come hang on mommy’s last day… #tvdforever

Kat Graham didn’t offer much in the way of behind-the-scenes looks at the last day of filming. She did post a fan-made montage video of some Bonnie’s best moments to her Twitter account, announcing that she had wrapped work on the show.

Matthew Davis, who plays Alaric, posted a video to his Instagram account talking about the last day of filming and thanking fans. Visibly emotional before filming his final scene, Davis thanks fans for the ride and blows a kiss to the camera.

Getting ready for my last shot… Love you guys!!!

Of course Vampire Diaries stars and leads Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley were far from silent either. They both wrote pretty lengthy posts on their respective Instagram accounts giving fans a look behind the scenes and writing how much their support has meant over the years.

That’s officially a wrap. One last pic of the brothers in front of the Camaro. To the fans, thank you for being a part of this journey in our lives. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We Haven’t Seen the Last of Enzo on The Vampire Diaries>>>

That’s an official wrap on the Vampire Diaries. From the 1st day to the last night… I was the last to leave our stages early this morning, not a single crew member, not a sound. To the fans, thank you for it all we would have never been on this journey without you. To all who made this show possible- we did it. 8 years, wow. Thank you all. Love, Ian

Former lead Nina Dobrev, who will be returning for the series finale, didn’t post anything of her own. She did, however, retweet a photo from Kayla Ewell, otherwise known as Vicki Donovan, which appears to be taken after the show finished filming. I’m sure Ewell’s sentiment about meeting some of her greatest friends on the show is akin to the way fans feel about the characters.

So who posted your favorite goodbye message? Who will you miss most watching on The Vampire Diaries? Are you ready for the show to end? Will the series have a happy ending? Would a happy ending make sense?
