The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7 premieres this Sunday on Bravo. So if you haven’t seen RHOA, what do you need to know to start watching and what can you expect from Season 7? We’ll fill you in.

Previously On…

Last season was a whopping 22 episodes plus three reunions! So though a lot happened, I’ll try to keep this short and sweet.

Porsha tried to move on from her unexpected divorce, but really didn’t manage to hang onto much of a storyline (she did manage to hang on to Kenya’s hair when she dragged her at the reunion). Thus she’s been demoted to “Friend of the Housewives” this season.

It was clear that NeNe didn’t really respect Cynthia as a friend through much of their relationship, but she crossed a line when she called Cynthia’s husband Peter a “bitch” to his face. Although NeNe apologized and thought things between them were in the clear, Cynthia was still unhappy with her at the reunion for not acting like a good friend in general.

Kandi and Todd had to put up with more crap from Mama Joyce than anyone should have to deal with from a parent. She vocally opposed Kandi’s choice of man from the start, accusing Todd of being on the “come-up” and only being with Kandi for money. They got married anyway on the summer spin-off Kandi’s Wedding.

Phaedra and Apollo had their ups and downs as a couple, some of which revolved around him texting Kenya. At the time of the reunion, he had already been arrested and charged with fraud.

Coming Up…

All of the ladies are returning for Season 7 and they’ll be joined by Claudia Jordan. Claudia is a radio show host in Atlanta and like her good friend Kenya, a former beauty queen. She seems to fit right in and even has a some kind of relationship with Porsha’s ex-husband Kordell Stewart. Scandalous!

Demetria McKinney is also joining the cast as a “Friend of the Housewives.” The actress, singer, and single mother’s boyfriend, producer Roger Bobb, catches the eye of Kenya. Kenya just loves chasing her cast mates’ men.

Things have only gotten worse for Phaedra and Apollo. Apollo was sentenced to eight years in prison and Phaedra has since filed for divorce. But in the mean time, Phaedra’s cast mates accuse her of having an affair with a man named Chocolate and Apollo harasses her on the day he’s supposed to surrender himself to prison. This may not be a great season for Phaedra, but at the end of the day she’s losing her stupid husband, so that’s a win.

NeNe might want to still make a friendship work with Cynthia, but based on her actions from the preview (as well as her pictures on Instagram with Kenya), Cynthia seems to be moving on. Friend contract terminated!

Unfortunately, getting married has seemed to done little to stop Mama Joyce meddling in her daughter and son-in-law’s lives. Only now it’s stopping them from starting a family of their own. Mama Joyce is really just the worst.
