Hello and welcome to the first installment of The Deep End with Kim and Meghan.

The premise:

As  two of the esteemed writers on staff here at BuddyTV, our jobs immerse us in a world of pop culture, television, movies and fashion, and it’s hard to take it with a grain of salt. Each day we find ourselves in intense discussions about the newest pop culture phenomenon, and we don’t normally see eye to eye. These discussions are so interesting, in fact, that we decided to share them with you.

This week’s topic is, of course, Harry Potter. The world is in Potter-mania once again. Our debate this week regards Sorting Hat politics, an argument started by our new “Which Hogwarts House Would You Be In?” personality quiz. We didn’t agree with our personal sortings, so of course we tried to find a flaw within the system of sorting… which led us to critiquing the entire system of witches and wizards within the world of Harry Potter.

Give the first of many Deep End Discussions a listen, respond below, and be sure to give us any suggestions for next week’s Deep End debate topic. If you haven’t taken it already, find out which house you’d be in by taking the quiz below. We want you to know that if you get Slytherin, it’s okay, and we accept you.

Meghan Carlson

Senior Writer, BuddyTV

Meghan hails from Walla Walla, WA, the proud home of the world’s best sweet onions and Adam West, the original Batman. An avid grammarian and over-analyzer, you can usually find her thinking too hard about plot devices in favorites like The OfficeIt’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and How I Met Your Mother. In her spare time, Meghan enjoys drawing, shopping, trying to be funny (and often failing), and not understanding the whole Twilight thing. She’s got a BA in English and Studio Art from Whitman College, which makes her a professional arguer, daydreamer, and doodler.
