The CW is tinkering with its fall premiere schedule, and it’s good news for fans of The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural, which will now be debuting one week earlier than previously announced. The network was also renewed its most popular summer series.
The Vampire Diaries season 5 will now begin the CW’s fall line-up on Thursday, October 3 at 8pm. It will lead into the premiere of the new spin-off The Originals. While The Originals is still scheduled to air Tuesdays at 8pm, the special launch will try to build momentum with Vampire Diaries fans.
The Originals will then air its second episode in its regular time slot, Tuesday, October 8 at 8pm. That episode will get an encore two days later after the second episode of The Vampire Diaries.
In addition, Supernatural will begin its ninth season on Tuesday, October 8 at 9pm, one week earlier than previously announced.
Finally, the period drama Reign, about Mary Queen of Scots, is getting pushed back one week and will now premiere Thursday, October 17 at 9pm following The Vampire Diaries.
The CW has also renewed the hit reboot of Whose Line Is It Anyway? for second season consisting of 24 new half-hour episodes.
