Last night’s Bachelorette was not the most emotional episode ever but it did excite me for several reasons: All dates led to the fantasy suit where one man couldn’t get his soldier up, and in the end, Jillian finally chose Kiptyn and Ed as her final two suitors before sending home yet another bachelor. It was tough to watch Reid leave since he was a pretty decent guy to begin with and he actually made her laugh —something Jillian is looking for in someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Unfortunately, Reid fell short of Jillian’s expectations.

If you missed arguably “the most awkward date in Bachelorette history,” you can read Meghan Carlson’s recap.

While Jillian has different levels of chemistry with Kiptyn and Ed, it seemed that she was most comfortable with Reid, and that’s in spite of the fact that there were moments when they had nothing to say to each other. I could even see Reid as the “best friend” she wants to grow old with as she relates to him more than the other guys. On the other hand, Reid didn’t lay it on the line for Jillian and just kept his emotions bottled up inside until he was finally sent home.

“I definitely could’ve seen myself with her,” Reid said during his last limo ride on The Bachelorette. “I can definitely say I was falling in love with her. I don’t think she even knew that. I saw her with my family–she was perfect. Her and I got along. I really think the whole thing was my fault. The whole thing is tough. Really tough. And then seeing her with the other two guys, it’s tough. I don’t see her being happy with either of those two guys. I just don’t. It would have been a lot easier if I would’ve told her I loved her. If I could reverse things, I would.”

Immediately after hearing Reid utter those words, I found myself musing over the possibility that viewers have not seen the last of Reid. After all, we’ve already seen Jake and Ed return on the show so it’s not impossible to see Reid vying for a second chance at love. There’s also that “men tell all” reunion special next week where an unexpected confession leaves Jillian feeling like she doesn’t know what to do. Will Reid return and finally say ‘I love you’ to Jillian? Or is it too late?
