Supernatural definitely ate some Scooby Snacks this, week, because the show saw an impressive jump in its ratings. “Scoobynatural,” the animated episode in which Sam, Dean and Cas became cartoon characters interacting with the gang from Scooby Doo, scored 2.03 million viewers.

“Scoobynatural” Was a Breath of Fresh Air>>>

That’s up more than 20 percent from the last episode and well above the season’s avrage. Other than the last two season premieres, “Scoobynatural” was the show’s most watched episode in almost two-and-a-half years. The last none-premiere episode to score over 2 million viewers was season 11’s “Baby,” another distinctive episode told entirely from inside Dean’s Impala.

While the CW has not yet officially renewed Supernatural for next season, it seems almost inevitable given these solid ratings. Even in season 13, the show is still one of the network’s best-performing shows.

Also, the fact that “Scoobynatural” and “Baby” are the two most-watched non-premiere episodes of Supernatural in the past three years may suggest that the show will continue to defy expectations and experiment with different ways of telling stories. Switching up the standard formula and doing something different and unexpected has paid off. Who knows what crazy thing the writers will come up with for next year.
