It’s been a long wait for fans of the CW’s Supernatural, as the series hasn’t aired an original installment since the creepy Christmas outing in December.  The wait is finally over this Thursday, as Supernatural returns with the first of four remaining episodes.  In this week’s “Malleus Maleficarum,” the Winchester brothers travel to Massachusetts to seek out a coven of witches that has murdered two people.  Along the way they run into Ruby (Katie Cassidy), and thanks to the head witch they finally learn more about her mysterious past.

To get Supernatural fans pumped up for the return of their favorite show, we have two exclusive clips from the episode.  Both of them reveal some interesting developments for the Winchesters, and they also leave us with some intriguing questions to ponder.

The first clip finds Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean stopping in the middle of the road when their way is intercepted by Ruby.  Dean immediately pulls a gun on her to make up for all the trouble she’s caused, but Ruby insists that she’s just trying to protect Sam from a powerful demon that’s coming after him.  As is usually the case with Ruby, we don’t know if what she’s telling the boys is actually true.

The next clip seems to follow shortly after the previous one, and finds Dean (Jensen Ackles) chastising Sam for letting Ruby go.  Dean thinks that he’s being led along by her like a fish on a hook, but Sam insists that she’s useful and worth keeping alive.  The clip gets even more interesting when Sam reveals why he’s been murdering with no remorse recently, and Dean comes down with a mysterious and horrible stomach pain.

This looks like it’s going to be one of the more exciting Supernatural episodes of the season.  Finding out more about Ruby’s past should be interesting, and there’s enough brotherly bickering here to satisfy even the biggest fan of the Winchesters.

“Malleus Maleficarum” will air Thursday at 9pm on the CW.
