Get your pineapples ready, Psychos: A Psych movie could be coming sooner than expected. New reports hint that production will soon begin on a feature film, three years after the long-running USA comedy ended its eight-season run.

Will There Be a Psych Reunion Soon?>>>

News of the production appeared in the April 27 edition of Production Week. Filming of Psych is expected to commence on May 24, in both Vancouver (where the original series was shot) and San Francisco. Unfortunately, the trade publication had no further details for Psychos anxious to know when their favorite fake detective might be back to solving murders.

This is not the first hint that a Psych movie could be coming. Back in July, series creator Steve Franks tweeted a photo with stars James Roday, Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson. He accompanied the picture, taken at a convention, with a tantalizing message to fans: “Thanks for all the extraordinary #Psych10 love today. If this doesn’t get us a #PsychMovie, nothing will.”

More recently, Psych co-star Dule Hill dropped some hints about the possibility of gathering the show’s cast for some sort of reunion. “Oh, I think there’s definitely something coming,” Hill told reporters at the Television Critics Association in January. “I love the whole Psych world.”

“I’m hoping that Steve Franks and the whole USA team will come together and make something happen,” he added. “Hold on, Psychos, hold on.”

Neither the stars nor the producer have commented on this latest report.

The 2014 finale of Psych offered closure on the series’ storylines, but it also left open the possibility of future cases for Shawn Spencer’s (Roday) fake-psychic detective — along with Juliet (Maggie Lawson) and Gus (Hill), Shawn was last seen chasing a new adventure in San Francisco. It is not hard to envision the gang getting back together to solve one more murder a few years later.

A comedic mainstay on USA for eight seasons, Psych followed the antics of a fake psychic who helped the police of Santa Barbara, CA, solve crimes.

While the cast of Psych has remained busy since their show’s finale, it is quite possible that all main characters could be available for a movie filming soon. Roday has had several TV-directing jobs over the past few years (most notably helming several episodes of FOX’s Rosewood). Hill was a star of the short-lived CBS legal drama, Doubt, and has since been cast in a season-long arc on USA’s Suits

Having starred in sitcoms since the end of Psych, Lawson recently appeared in a multi-episode arc on The Great Indoors. Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer) and Omundson (Detective Lassiter), meanwhile, will both appear as gods in upcoming roles — Bernsen in Starz’s American Gods and Omundson in FOX’s Lucifer.
