The last of the originals has gone.

Piers Morgan has announced that he is stepping down as judge on NBC’s summer talent search America’s Got Talent next year, to focus on his work on his CNN talk show Piers Morgan Tonight.

He confirmed the news on Twitter, right after making the announcement himself on his CNN show. “I’ve loved every single second [of my time on the show],” he said. “But [I] discovered that the juggling, to my surprise, really is a bit more difficult than I thought.”

See the video of his announcement below.

Morgan is the remaining original judge on the show’s judging panel, joining since the show started in 2006. Earlier this year he joined CNN, taking over the time slot vacated by Larry King, who retired after handling Larry King Live for 25 years.

Before his stint on American television, Morgan was a newspaper editor, notably leading the British tabloid The Daily Mirror; his stint there proved controversial after the newspaper published faked photos of Iraqi soldiers being abused by British soldiers. He also hosted several talk shows across the pond.
