Looks like VH1’s formula of bringing together contestants from previous reality shows Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and I Love New York has worked.  The season premiere of I Love Money, which aired last July 6, has helped place the network on top of the ratings.

Variety.com reports that the reality show, which pits contestants from its previous seasons against each other for a chance to win a quarter of a million dollars, got around 2.3 million people watching its premiere.  Coupled with another VH1 reality program Brooke Knows Best—which got a little under two million viewers—the network was tops among younger viewers, although the title of cable ratings leader still went to USA Network.

The channel is still bringing in people curious about these reality show rejects getting another chance for the money.  Last Sunday’s episode saw Heat selected for elimination by, of all people, Entertainer—if only to make sure that his relationship with Destiney will survive.  The Green Team lost the challenge by default, when Chance backed out of the challenge (a kissing challenge, earlier thought to involve food after host Craig J. Jackson teased them by saying it involves their mouths) upon realizing that he had to kiss Mr. Boston, who he was paired with earlier.

And this Sunday’s episode will see the remaining 14 contestants put their football skills to the test, but instead of footballs, they have to catch raw chickens catapulted to them.  And, one team considers just ditching the game to eliminate one of their own, but things will not go as planned.  VH1 promises that Sunday night’s elimination will be its “most dramatic yet.”

Another episode of I Love Money hits television screens this Sunday at 11pm on VH1.
