We’re closing in on the season 3 finale of Glee, and the remaining episodes will be jam-packed with extremely important storylines coming up for our favorite characters at McKinley High. The songlist has been announced for next week’s Whitney Houston tribute. There’s a shocker coming, and it involves NYADA. And will Damian return next season?
Songs by Whitney
Next week is the much anticipated Whitney Houston tribute. And we now know which songs are to be featured in the episode. The seven songs are “So Emotional,” “Saving All My Love for You,” “I Have Nothing,” “How Will I Know,” “My Love is Your Love,” “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” At this time, it is uncertain who will be performing which songs. But BuddyTV will provide the audio to these covers once they’re released online.
NYADA: Trouble Ahead for Kurt or Rachel?
I know I’m not the only one looking forward to Kurt and Rachel taking part in their auditions for NYADA (which will include a three episode arc for Whoopi Goldberg as a theatrical grande dame). Because we’ve known for quite a while that both of them have big plans post-high school, what with wanting to move to New York and all. But will the conclusion of this storyline not be as happy for one of them?
First, here’s a brief synopsis for episode 18, “Choke”: “Domestic violence affects students and teachers at McKinley. [As] Rachel and Kurt prepare for their all-important NYADA auditions, they get news that could send all their well-laid plans into a tailspin.” Some think that the domestic violence part will involve Puck’s dad.
But this synopsis warns of trouble brewing for Kurt and Rachel. Jane Lynch attended The Three Stooges premiere recently (a movie that she stars in) and reveals in an interview that “We’re gonna find out who gets into NYADA. Kurt and Rachel auditioned and one of ’em gets in, one doesn’t. That’s a teaser for you!” Who do you think will make it, and who won’t? That’s the big question, isn’t it?
What About Kurt and Blaine?
In some respect, it could easily go either way. If Rachel doesn’t get in, she might warm up to Finn’s idea of moving to California to join the expansion of Puck’s pool cleaning business. If Kurt turns out to be the rejected one, what would he do? Blaine is currently a junior, so would Kurt stay in Lima to be with Blaine? Well, Darren Criss teased this to TV Guide. When asked if Kurt and Blaine will be discussing the future together, Criss said, “That’s coming up for sure. Those are the biggest stakes for Kurt and Blaine and that’s something they’re about to deal with.” This is very vague, and maybe that discussion gets started if Kurt doesn’t make it into NYADA.
Speaking of everyone’s futures, what about The Glee Project winner Damian McGinty? Will he be returning to Glee for season 4? This is what he had to say on the matter, via Wetpaint: “Honestly for me at the moment, for a lot of us on set, myself, Chord Overstreet, Samuel Larsen, you know, all the guest stars, Grant Gustin, we’re a bit in limbo because we really … there’s ideas being thrown about as to what the show is going to be next year, but there’s nothing concrete, I don’t think.”
While it’s hard to tell if someone like Grant Gustin‘s Sebastian returns, I would think Ryan Murphy would want to keep Damien on, since his character still has some time left in high school (unless Murphy’s “revolutionary” idea changes all that). Overstreet already left once, will he do it again? And with Larsen, why wouldn’t they keep him on? If any of the actors permanently leave, this would be a great way to fill those holes.
Are you looking forward to seeing New Directions take on those Whitney Houston classics? What about the Kurt and Rachel shocker — who do you think gets rejected? And should Damian and the rest of the newbies stay on?
